Adventure
Adventure means different things to different people: the fast paced life of New York City, tasting an exotic new food, auto racing, community theater, or launching your own business. Even going to a movie by oneself might seem daring to some. Whether it is a sense of the unknown, a jolt of adrenaline, or conquering one's fear, adventure is something a person seeks out. Not everyone is comfortable with adventure. In fact, many people avoid it, but for those who enjoy pushing themselves to live life to the fullest, adventure is generally a primary quest.
For me, adventure is a strong element that validates a life well lived. I can find adventure in pushing my brain to learn all I can about anything and everything. A kiss can be wonderfully adventurous. However, travel to new places in nature--domestic or international--along with outdoor "extreme" sports, fulfills my innate and demanding search for adventure.
The adventure section of this website will chronicle--in words and photos--the lands I travel to and the more challenging activities I partake of. Africa, Baja, and Costa Rica, will be the first trips I'll share with you. Eventually I'll get around to recounting some of my earlier adventures to Borneo, Chile and Nepal. Some of the outdoor sports to be found on these pages include mountain biking, skiing, rock and mountain climbing, white water rafting, kayaking, backpacking, surfing, bungee jumping, SCUBA, and bird watching.
For the immediate present you are welcome to join me and Bob on our three-month odyssey in southern Africa, where we are currently seeking out some adventure.
