Q: Is OutsideTheBoxx a blog or what?
A: It's a "What". Seriously, OutsideTheBoxx is more than a blog. I can't think of a simple label to stamp on this website or a category it might fit neatly into but it is not a blog. OutideTheBoxx does have a blog component in the form of my JOURNAL with regular, reverse chronologic entries along with features that invite readers to comment. You'll also find the regular chronicling of my activities in the ADVENTURE segment of the site when I'm traveling, and this is kind of "bloggish". However, the site is also home to my PHOTOS, and WRITING in the form of poetry, essays, book and movie reviews, political rants, and such. There is also the FORUM for bringing together OutsideTheBoxx visitors. And soon, I'll be featuring full-length stories as I am writing them, some of which will eventually become books. In addition I hope to generate some meaningful income from the site and one of the methods for doing this is the Market Place where I sell really cool products and stuff that I find. I do encourage readers to participate in blog format where it does exist by responding to posts and being interactive in all the typical blogging activities but keep in mind it is more than a blog though I'm not sure exactly what.

Q: How old are you?
A: I've been asked my age for decades because physically I look quite a bit younger than I am and I participate in a number of rugged, athletic activities that are more common to women in their 20's. On the other hand, I've lived a pretty full life so it seems like I've done a lot of wildly diverse things, as if living several stories in one lifetime. I've also spent a lot of time alone in nature, years in fact, with plenty of time to contemplate some of the big philosophic and spiritual questions of humanity so perhaps I have gained more wisdom than others my age. I don't believe chronologic age is relevant because I don't think there is really such a thing as time and space. It (the time/space continuum), and we, and the Universe are infinite, in my opinion, so I'd prefer not put unnatural parameters of age around myself. When people persist in trying to find out my age I respond by saying, "Physically I'm quite youthful, mentally and experientially I'm mature, spiritually I feel somewhat ancient, and chronologically I'm... Q: Where, exactly, in Oregon is your ranch?
A: As you may have noticed, I often refer to the Yamsi Valley as my secret paradise. If I reveled the exact location it wouldn't be a secret any more, nor would it continue to be an unspoiled place free, for the most part, of other people. I will tell you that it is in south central Oregon not too far east of the Klamath Marsh Wildlife Refuge. The nearest towns are: Chiloquin, about 32 miles south; Chemult, about 35 miles north; and Silver Lake, about 45 miles east/north east. Because my property is surrounded on three sides by National Forest land the access to the ranch is swirled within maze of thousands of miles of Forest Service roads. Even I got lost the day I moved to the ranch, and most people can't find it a second or third time without a map. Nobody, ever, has been able to locate Aspen Ridge Ranch without a detailed map. It is a semi-secret valley, though a few locals know of it. And my property is particularly hard to find but I rest assured, it does exist. Back to top
