We managed to get up by seven though there was little noise from any other guests. Birds and chickens and the ocean were the only sounds we heard but we were determined to get on the road today, possibly even find some surf for Bob, so we got up with the sun. The surf was macking — too big Bob figured to surf most places in the Transkei. The sun was hot by 8 and still only the staff seemed to be moving about. Last nightë’s Full Moon party seemed to encourage a lot of sleeping in.

By the time we were packed and breakfasted, most guests were out and about so we got to say good bye to many of the lovely friends we made during the past few days. If only Monique lived in Bend, I suspect we would become best friends. Hugs and kisses all around then we drove off through the village of Coffee Bay, knowing it would be unlikely we would ever return.

We drove along the coast for a while on a gravel road to take a look at the next good surf spot to the north but as Bob suspected, it was too big and from the wrong direction. We backtracked to the main gravel road then spent the next 4 hours finishing our long trek across the Transki. We pulled into the town of Umzumbe after 5. The swell was still huge so weë l wait until tomorrow to surf. We got a nice room at Pumula Beach Hotel at half price. Our room is practically on top of the point break with a nice balconey overlooking the whole ocean so it should be easy for Bob to check the surf in the morning, though he may actually have to get out of bed to see it well.
